Epic WWII Fanfic/AU - Part one

Fandom(s): Richard Carstone is from Bleak House by Charles Dickens. Tom Jones is from the novel of the same name by Henry Fielding. Danny Sloane (Arthur's younger brother) also makes a brief cameo appearance.
Rating: PG-13, overall, for violence and some language.

desperatefans as an alternate universe exercise, but became rather epic in the meantime. I've cleaned it up and made it a bit more readable as a narrative where necessary. It's long enough that I'm posting it in 15 parts total. Massive, massive thanks to abnormal_sea for the great fun of this.
