Aw, Saigremort, Cai is a terrible choice for anything involving feels.
...is it bad that I instantly felt the answer was to make a New Britain Laurel analogue. >.>
ANYWAY if they did hook up in an AU, Cai would be brusque and terrible after, so there's that.
