First kiss

Written for Pucker Up: The Multifandom Challenge, on the principle that good kisses are hard to write. Which they are. Original characters, one mine, one not, from a certain Ravenloft campaign. This character won't leave me alone for some reason. And yes, this did happen in the campaign, after...well, that's a long story.
It was the kiss that had surprised her, more than the words. She hadn't really had time to process his unexpected revelation fully before she was kissing him. Only that wasn't right, was it? She might have started the kiss, but he finished it. He tasted warm and inviting and a bit spicy - the tastes of stew and wine lingering in his mouth over and above the taste of him. She couldn't decide, exactly, what that taste was. Something wild and slightly dangerous, like exotic spice. And then her thoughts evaporated under the ferocity of his need for her, so completely unexpected and yet somehow completely perfect. Every word they'd ever said to each other, every look they'd ever exchanged, seemed to have led to this moment, with him kissing her in front of the firelight, dinner and worry and battle scars completely forgotten. Even if he never kissed her again, this moment would have been enough.
Not bad, for a first attempt.
