rougen, was "absolutely necessary."
“Well, this is a fine mess you’ve gotten us into.”
“Ari, what you lack is a sense of adventure.” Katiya wiggled her wrists, experimentally testing the rope.
“I have a well-developed sense of adventure. This is not one.”
“Bah.”
“Hey. You two be quiet in there,” said the guard outside. “We will separate you.”
Ariadne said under her breath, “If they had the men to guard us separately, they would have done it already.” Katiya grinned a little bit. “I’m glad you’re so amused,” Ari added.
“We’ve been captured by pirates. How is that not amusing?”
The paladin did not dignify this comment with a reply. She did shift, however, as Kaitya attempted to test the bond again.
“Besides, I didn’t even know this world had pirates,” Katiya added.
“Perhaps you should do your research more thoroughly.”
“Oh bah.” She concentrated, and her bones started to shift, changing direction. And shrinking enough to yank her arms out. With the slack it created, Ariadne pulled her arms free easily enough. “You need to be more flexible.” Katiya shifted back to full human as she spoke.
Ariadne mouthed We’re not leaving without my sword.
Katiya made a face. Is that absolutely necessary?, she mouthed back.
Ariadne nodded, and Katiya shrugged, so she shifted into half wolf from and moves for the door.
“Behave yourself, Katiya,” Ariadne warned, before her friend knocked down the door.
